Ocean News: The Cove Predicts Dolphin Eating Epidemic and US sued for Whale Deafness
www.speakupforblue.com First Story: The Cove Movie exposed the nasty business of mass killings of dolphins in Taiji, Japan to sell as food and the world thought it only happened in a couple of places like Taiji. BUT, a new study by the Wildlife Conservation Society revealed 114 countries have eaten 87 different marine mammal species (whales, dolphins, seal, dudgongs, etc.) since 1990. One reason why this marine mammal consumption has increased is due to the collapse of commercially available fish in certain areas. Conservation efforts are underway to work with local communities to reduce the consumption of marine mammals in regions all around the world. Story 1 Link: green.blogs.nytimes.com Story 2: A group of Environmental Organizations joined forces to sue the US government over conducting Navy Exersizes using sonar on the West coast. The environmental organizations say the sonar affects the hearing of Orcas (a US Endangered Species), which rely on the sense for hunting, attracting mates, and communicating with other Orcas. Ocean News: Irish Sea Gets A Push For Protection and Sri Lanka Protects Coast From Tsunami
www.speakupforblue.com Save the Irish Sea: www.wildlifetrusts.org Story 1: The Irish Sea has been neglected for years as people think of the body of water as a wasteland. So the Wildlife Trust recently launched a website to educate people on the great number of species that occur in the complex waters of the Irish Sea. Story 1 Link: www.irishsea.org Story 2: The government of Sri Lanka invested $4 million US into protecting the coastline from erosion and climate change impacts like sea level rise and increased storm surges. This investment is probably a good idea since it would help protect coastal communities from Tsunamis like the one in 2004. Story 2 Link: www.colombopage.com

Estlili took the decision after arch-rival Esteghlal football team trounced Persepolis 3-0 at a derby in front of approximately 70000 spectators at Tehran's Azadi Stadium on Friday, Mehr News Agency reported. The match between the two Iranian soccer powerhouses headed into extra time following the 90 minutes finishing goalless. Forty four-year-old Iranian soccer ace Estili, was appointed as Persepolis coach at the beginning of the season after the world's all-time leading goalscorer Ali Daei refused to cooperate with the squad.
