Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp Fuels (Singapore) Pte Ltd, has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with TotalEnergies Gas & Power Asia Private Limited to import up to 0.8 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per annum. Delivery is expected to commence from 2027 for a tenure of 16 years. This SPA is in addition to the current LNG purchase agreement that runs between the two companies until 2029.
New York State has selected Ørsted and Eversource to negotiate a new 25-year contract for their Sunrise Wind offshore wind farm. Odfjell Oceanwind, together with the leading automation and manufacturing expert Prodtex, have established a joint venture to address what is expected to become one of the biggest bottlenecks in scaling the floating offshore wind industry: low cost and high-capacity manufacturing of foundations for floating wind turbines. The joint venture is created to establish the production capacity necessary to meet the need for hundreds of floating wind foundations per year in Europa alone and is looking to have its first facility operational by 2027. Recently, the industry veteran Geir Bjørkeli, former CEO of Corvus Energy, has been appointed to head up the venture.
QatarEnergy has announced that it is proceeding with a new LNG expansion project, the “North Field West” project, to further raise the State of Qatar’s LNG production capacity to 142 million tons per annum (MTPA) before the end of this decade, representing an increase of almost 85% from current production levels.
