NOR Offshore Rental (NOR) has made a significant investment in high-performance navigation and positioning systems from Exail, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership that will enhance its rental pool for its subsidiaries in both the UK and Norway.

The order includes:

  • 25 Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS) for subsea and surface navigation, including the Rovins 9-DVL all-in-one INS/DVL system
  • 2 Gaps M5 Ultra-Short Baseline (USBL) positioning systems
  • 4 Oceano MT912S acoustic transponders

“We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Exail through this significant investment,” said Jostein Jansen, Chief Commercial Officer at NOR Offshore Rental. “Integrating Exail’s cutting-edge equipment into our rental pool enables us to offer enhanced navigation and positioning capabilities to our clients worldwide, supporting their offshore construction, geophysics, surveying, energy, and renewables projects. Exail’s proven track record of reliability and innovation makes them the ideal partner as we work to facilitate more efficient offshore operations”.

Exail’s INS and AHRS systems are engineered to operate at depths of up to 6,000 meters, providing reliable and precise navigation data for both shallow and deep-sea operations. Their robust design ensures consistent performance under extreme conditions, making them ideal for challenging subsea projects.

The Gaps M5 USBL system offers exceptional horizontal tracking capabilities in shallow water environments, operating effectively at depths up to 995 meters. Its ability to provide accurate positioning even in difficult conditions enhances operational efficiency for tasks such as underwater inspections, construction, and surveys where precision is critical.

“We are honored that NOR has chosen Exail for their navigation and positioning needs,” said Carl Trollet, Regional Sales Manager at Exail. “Our advanced INS and USBL systems are designed to meet the demanding requirements of modern offshore operations. By providing high-precision data in both deep and shallow waters, we aim to enhance the safety and efficiency of NOR’s clients’ projects.”

This purchase not only strengthens NOR’s capabilities in the UK and Scandinavia but also reinforces Exail’s presence in the Northern European market. With a new office already established in Norway, this partnership is set to drive further growth and development in the region, enabling Exail to provide more localized support and services to the Northern European offshore industry.
