Tim Fischer, Executive Director of Global Wind, has been elected to GOWA’s first steering group where he will be a strong advocate for the importance of integrating sustainability into auction processes to spur innovation and accelerate the build-out of offshore wind.
“The global offshore wind industry faces a trilemma. It has to strike a balance between interests from investor, developers, suppliers, and the general public. By adding sustainability in the offshore wind auction scheme, we can foster more innovation, create a diverse and fair competition landscape, and ultimately improve on the speed we can grow this business,” says Tim Fischer.
GOWA unites 14 countries and the private sector to achieve 380 GW offshore wind by 2030 and 2,000 GW by 2050, in line with 1.5°C of the Paris Agreement. The steering group is entrusted with setting strategic priorities, monitoring progress, and supporting and promoting the initiatives and ambitions laid out by GOWA’s secretariat.
