Fincantieri, an international leader in shipbuilding, operates 18 large shipyards across 4 continents, and Accenture, a leading global professional services company present in Italy for over 65 years, are collaborating to drive innovation and digitization in the defense and port services sectors.

The strategic goal of the collaboration is to empower Fincantieri NexTech—a Fincantieri company for the development of digital products and services for the group—and Accenture to jointly accelerate digital transformation initiatives outlined in the Fincantieri Group’s 2023–2027 Industrial Plan through the adoption of advanced technologies. The collaboration will draw on Accenture’s extensive network of innovation centers and advanced digital capabilities for the reinvention of the cruise, defense, and port services industries.

The collaboration focuses on development in two areas: (1) a technological platform that uses advanced digital products and services to integrate functions on board ships; (2) innovative digital transformation solutions to make ports smarter, safer and more efficient.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri, said: “Our Industrial Plan makes it clear that we aim to be pioneers in industrializing new digital solutions, focusing on managing the entire lifecycle of a ship, not just its construction. We are proudly expanding Fincantieri’s ambitions to include the logical domain of ships, building on our undisputed leadership in the physical domain with validated solutions such as energy efficiency and predictive maintenance. We see Accenture as a partner that will enhance our operational presence in Italy and abroad, boost our credibility with global clients, and strengthen our investment capacity and business development capabilities for services on an international scale.”

“This important initiative with strategic player Fincantieri lays the groundwork for an important technological leap forward, which will create new value in a sector that is fundamental for our country and for the global economy,” added Mauro Macchi, President and CEO of Accenture Italia. “We are looking forward to this journey and making our assets and technological skills available to create a unique capability in a sector of ‘Made in Italy’ excellence.”
