“Collaboration has a critical role in driving sustainable and impactful advancements in the undersea ecosystem. UTIC continues to promote collaboration as the cornerstone of progress in undersea technology innovation with initiatives like the newly launched Collaboration Database,” said UTIC CEO Molly Donohue Magee.
Brian McKeon, the Chief Technology Officer of MIKEL, a small business with deep ties to undersea tech, recently commented on the importance of collaboration:
“The networks of large and small businesses we all have built are an important part of being successful in undersea tech collaboration. A key benefit of these networks is that they foster the necessary collaboration to enable you to work together to fully understand the entire life cycle of the technology and how it will be used by the customer.”
MIKEL joins other industry players who are already in the Collaboration Database, allowing them to extend their reach and create deeper relationships with other undersea tech innovators in the US, Australia, the UK, and Canada. The public database, hosted on the UTIC website, is open to a range of organizations, including technology product and service companies, academic and research organizations, and related international trade bodies.
Joe Ricci, the Technical Director of Undersea Systems for Raytheon, recently highlighted that Raytheon relies on collaboration with other businesses, big and small, to “…fill gaps in our technology research and development.” He went on to say that “…our engineering organization reaches out to small businesses often, where we can target individual technology in the marketplace and have a good back and forth about how those technology needs can be met with collaboration.”
The Collaboration Database is an important resource for companies looking for new research collaborators, new technologies and platforms, new partners to market with, and more.
