Ørsted and Cadeler signed a firm long-term lease agreement for a newbuilt wind farm installation vessel. With the agreement, Ørsted secures installation vessel capacity from Q1 2027 to end of 2030 for upcoming construction projects.

Carnegie Clean Energy announced a major milestone on the path to commercializing its world-leading CETO wave energy technology. Carnegie’s wholly owned subsidiary, CETO Wave Energy Ireland has signed an Assignment Agreement related to the Berth Reservation Agreement between the Biscay Marine Energy Platform S.A. and Wave Energy Scotland Limited.

Leading offshore wind developers Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn, a joint venture between Plenitude (Eni) and HitecVision, have announced that its floating offshore wind project Green Volt has been granted full onshore planning approval. This marks a significant milestone in the development of the most progressed commercial-scale floating wind farm in Europe. Green Volt is 50% owned by Flotation Energy and 50% by Vårgrønn.
The Biden-Harris administration announced its approval of the New England Wind offshore wind project—the nation’s eighth approval of a commercial-scale, offshore wind energy project under President Biden’s leadership. With the approval, the Department of the Interior has approved more than 10 gigawatts of clean energy from offshore wind projects—enough to power nearly four million homes.
Avangrid, Inc. (Avangrid), a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, submitted multiple proposals for mature, transformative New England Wind projects to the Massachusetts-Connecticut-Rhode Island multi-state solicitation for offshore wind power. New England Wind, representing two projects—the 791 Megawatt (MW) New England Wind 1 project and 1,080 MW New England Wind 2 project—are among the most mature offshore wind opportunities in the nation, with the ability to achieve commercial operations before the end of the decade, delivering an urgent energy, climate, and economic solution to the region.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced the Notice of Availability of the Area Identification (Area ID) for proposed Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Oil and Gas Lease Sales 262, 263, and 264. The Area ID will publish in the Federal Register on April 1, 2024, and is available for viewing and downloading on BOEM’s website.
Rhode Island’s offshore wind leader Ørsted announced that it has submitted a proposal for its Starboard Wind project, which would power more than 600,000 homes with renewable energy while delivering new investments that cement the Ocean State’s status as a national leader in the offshore wind industry and emerging Blue Economy.
