Seacork Studio was founded in 2024 by Annie Dahan. Seacork Studio is a bio-based materials company in Vancouver, BC, transforming regeneratively harvested seaweed into acoustic panels. Designed to store biogenic carbon and lower embodied emissions, their panels can be reprocessed or composted at the end of their life. Seacork supports architects, interior designers, and contractors in meeting their acoustic needs while providing a product story that traces to the ocean. Their panels have undergone third-party performance testing and a cradle-to-gate Life Cycle Analysis to validate technical and sustainability claims.
Seacork Studio was a finalist at Ocean Exchange in 2024.
In 2025, Seacork secured over $1 million in non-dilutive funding. This funding helped the company validate its supply chain and secure a new production facility, enabling a 10x increase in manufacturing capacity in 2026. With upgraded equipment and processes, Seacork is targeting production of about 1,000 square feet of acoustic panels per month.
Winning Formula: Curiosity and persistence are essential. When working with natural materials, you can’t force the outcome—you have to listen, experiment, and let the process teach you. Just as importantly, you can’t do it alone: understand what you’re good at, what you’re not, and find people who can help fill those gaps.
