Bahr Essalam Phase 2 Offshore Project Begins Production

National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Eni announce that Mellitah Oil & Gas, Eni and NOC joint venture company (50/50), has started production from the first well of the offshore Bahr Essalam Phase 2 project. This comes just three years after the final investment decision. Two further wells will begin production within a week. An additional seven wells will come on-stream by October 2018.

World’s First Battery for Offshore Wind Installed

The battery storage solution was presented in Peterhead, Scotland on June 27, 2018, by Batwind partners Equinor and Masdar. Electricity produced at the world’s first floating offshore wind farm Hywind Scotland, located 25 kilometers off the coast of Peterhead, will be transported via cables to an onshore substation where the 1 MW batteries are placed and connected to the grid. The battery capacity is the equivalent of more than 128.000 iPhones.

Lloyd’s Register Supports Coral South FLNG Project in Mozambique

The Coral South field is being developed by Eni in Area Four of the Rovuma Basin, off the coast of Mozambique, the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit will be Africa’s first floating gas facility. The size, quality and position of the field’s resources are set to transform Mozambique’s economy; the Coral South field contains approximately 450 billion cubic meters (16 TCF) of gas.

Ørsted Wins 920MW Offshore Wind Projects in Taiwan

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has announced the outcome of its first offshore wind auction. Ørsted was awarded 920MW capacity for its offshore wind sites in the Changhua region. Subject to Ørsted obtaining relevant permits and taking final investment decision, the projects are to be built in 2025. Ørsted’s winning bid price was TWD2,548 (approx. EUR72.3) per MWh.
