First Norwegian Walk to Work Contract for Ampelmann

The Ampelmann E-type on the Normand Jarstein vessel

Dutch offshore service provider Ampelmann has secured a contract with DeepOcean to support the hook-up and commissioning of the Valhall Flank West (VFW) project, operated by Aker BP. An E-type system will support the Normand Jarstein vessel enabling the safe and efficient transfer of key personnel to the normally unmanned installation. The campaign is due to start in June.

“We have spent a considerable amount of time designing the offshore access segment of this project directly with Aker BP stakeholders. It is a significant milestone for Ampelmann as we enter another important Oil & Gas region, delivering trusted and reliable offshore access other regions have benefited from,” said Lorenz Nehring, Business Development Manager UK & Norway at Ampelmann.

Walk to Work (W2W) has been chosen as the means of offshore access during this project, with the E-type being the most suitable solution. The system is the largest system in Ampelmann’s portfolio and is ideally suited for W2W operations in rough weather conditions, able to compensate high sea states up to 4.5m Hs. “We appreciate the trust Aker BP and the vessel operator, DeepOcean, have put in Ampelmann’s solutions and services,” Nehring said.

The company is looking forward to a continuous collaboration and a successful execution of the W2W campaign.
