Born from a collaboration between OEG and subsea robotics specialist Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD), SEAJET represents a complete rethinking of subsea excavation. Its twintool electric configuration provides 400 kilowatts of consistent, high-performance output, offering around 50 percent more power than conventional hydraulic systems. Essentially, it delivers this power across all operating depths, which means full trenching performance whether working in coastal shallows or on the abyssal plain.
VERSATILITY IN THE FIELD
Designed to be non-contact, SEAJET is as suited for sensitive cable installations around live assets as it is for heavy trenching through dense clay and gravel. Its ability to adapt to varying soil conditions and seabed types makes it a formidable tool for the lifecycle of offshore infrastructure, from construction to maintenance, repair, and final decommissioning.

In field campaigns, including a recent offshore wind project with Nexans, SEAJET outperformed legacy equipment. The system exceeded burial targets in shallow waters where other technologies had stalled due to cavitation and lack of subsea power. Nexans’ Project Manager, Geir Korstad, described SEAJET as a “very powerful tool,” praising both its trenching precision and the environmental benefits delivered during the campaign.
SUSTAINABLE & EFFICIENT
What truly sets SEAJET apart in the context of deep-sea operations is its sustainability profile. With zero hydraulic fluids, the system eliminates the risk of oil spills—a major concern in fragile deep-sea ecosystems.
It operates with significantly reduced noise emissions, making it compatible with the regulatory constraints of sensitive marine environments, and it improves deck safety by removing many of the high-pressure components associated with traditional systems.

Behind the scenes, SEAJET’s modular design allows for fast mobilization, reduced vessel day rates, and enhanced diagnostic control. Operators benefit from real-time performance data and fault detection, streamlining both deployment and troubleshooting in complex subsea environments. These efficiencies not only reduce operational risk but also offer significant commercial advantages for clients navigating increasingly cost-conscious offshore markets.
FUTURE-READY PLATFORM
SEAJET is more than a powerful excavation tool it’s a future-ready platform. With integration of remote operations, enhanced survey packages, and autonomous functionality on the horizon, it is positioned to lead the next generation of clean subsea technology. As offshore energy projects scale in both size and ambition, the need for tools that can trench deeper, work smarter, and operate cleaner has never been more pressing.
In the pursuit of the ocean’s most challenging frontiers, SEAJET proves that deep-sea applications don’t have to come at a high environmental cost. It delivers power with precision, capability without compromise, and performance that’s built not just for today’s projects, but tomorrow’s possibilities.
