The Future of Ocean Industry Media in an Evolving Information Seascape

The day-to-day of any industry media and publishing business is fast-paced and varied, but with increased global interest in developing a sustainable Blue Economy—one propelled by ever cleaner and versatile ocean-based solutions—the current spike in investment for scalable ocean tech has triggered a surge in daily news.

Our mission at ON&T is to provide ocean professionals with a reliably relevant and dynamic multimedia platform, one that connects our cross-sector audience with the most up-to-date and relevant content. For us, that means curating the industry news, views, and insights fueling meaningful progress.

NEWS.

On average, each month, the editorial team receives between 400–500 press releases from industry players, governmental agencies, and key associations. The initial role of an editorial team at this point is to decipher the most prominent developments across the sector. Over

time, this steady drip feed of product launches, contract announcements, and project updates brings emerging trends, market opportunities, and technological breakthroughs into sharper focus. Our job, primarily as communications specialists, is to help translate what we see and offer insightful context.

VIEWS.

Taking readers beyond the news is more than just content curation, and skilled presentation; it’s about tapping the minds of industry leaders and experts to bring an additional dimension to the topics behind the headlines. For ON&T, and particularly the production of our monthly magazine, this means profiling exclusive thought leadership, which each month comes in the form of guest authorship. Over the years, we have had an eclectic mix of op-eds, feature articles, product spotlights, etc., all of which enrich our archive of expert views and opinions in an easy-to-digest format. The high caliber of contributors that ON&T attracts is a constant point of pride for us.

INSIGHTS.

And then there are insights, which refer more to the unfolding narrative that ON&T is uniquely positioned to comment on. Much of this exclusive monthly content is filed under ON&T’s FRONTLINE REPORTING, our TAKE 5 Interview—a bitesize Q&A with “captains of industry”—Energy MarketWatch—our month-by-month oil and gas market data and commentary—and Check The Tech—our latest pick for emerging technology or service provider set to break the mold.

All of this is a labor of love for the ON&T team. It is our privilege to help nourish an ongoing dialogue between sector stakeholders and—through a dynamic and intuitive platform—engage professionals across multiple industries and regions around the globe.

All this said, it would be remiss to not mention one critical ingredient to ON&T’s recipe for success: You. You, the reader; you, the advertiser; and you, the contributor. Thank you.
