EDF Renewables plays a leading role in the emergence of this new industry, taking advantage of their many years’ experience from onshore projects in order to guarantee an optimal level of operation for their offshore facilities. They currently have 3.0 GW of offshore wind under development and growing. With four offshore wind projects in France, one in Belgium, two in the United Kingdom and one in Denmark, they have proven their technical skills in marine engineering through successfully installing fixed-bottom, monopile, jacket and gravity based foundations.
In 2018, EDF Renewables North America and Shell New Energies formed a 50/50 joint venture, Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, LLC, to co-develop a lease area with the potential of approximately 2,500 MW of offshore wind energy – enough to power close to one million homes. The lease comprises 183,353 acres approximately eight miles off the coast of Atlantic City on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). Learn More.
