Opening the office on the back of a multi-million service agreement with an oil and gas major, Craig International expects to double its revenues in Australia in less than a year.
This office is the second new international base this year for Craig International, which is pursuing an ambitious global growth strategy. The company recently opened an office in Singapore to increase its reach into the fast-growing Southeast Asian energy market and immediately secured a five-figure sum contract win with a major operator.
Craig International’s new Perth office is located within leading logistics provider, Asco’s facility to provide integrated sourcing, procurement and material consolidation delivery to the local market.
With a handful of employees in Perth, initially, Craig International will service the Australian operation through its access to a global network of pre-qualified suppliers and more than 100 procurement specialists operating from its global bases, servicing 55 countries.
Craig International’s regional director, Steve Gibson, said: “Australia, close to key markets like Japan and South Korea, is in a “sweet spot” to take advantage of rising energy demand by supplying energy and resources while also decarbonizing its own economy. This presents significant opportunities for us as procurement specialists to the energy industry.
“Drawing on our 25 years’ experience of providing out-sourced procurement that delivers major efficiencies to the energy and offshore industries, we will bring something proven and unique to the Australian market. We are confident of winning new business with local companies in Western Australia, as well as the multi-nationals who operate in the region.
“At the forefront of digital procurement, with our technologically advanced platform, ebuy, and now leading the way in sustainability with ecobuy, we provide a streamlined service for the complete procurement process, from ordering, sourcing and monitoring to delivery.
Head-quartered in Aberdeen, Craig International has been pursuing ambitious internationalization which has seen turnover from its global operations increase from $140m to over $200m in 12 months.
Steve McHardy, joint managing director of Craig International, added: “While we are already operating in Australia, having an office in Perth allows us to get closer to our clients and more rapidly identify and capitalize on local opportunities.
“We’ve taken this approach in South-East Asia where, following the opening of our Singapore office, we’ve seen a more rapid rise in growth than we would have if we had continued to deliver services from our bases in the Middle east.
“In addition to our offices in Perth and Singapore, we’ve experienced accelerated growth in the Middle East, with the opening of an operational base in Oman and ongoing growth in Dubai and Qatar. In North America, we are expanding in Calgary and Houston to service our rapidly growing client base and market share and our Cape Town facility has brought in a number of new clients.”
