Due by the end of 2026, FLOWRA and FEM will explore the establishment of a cooperation framework to address a broad range of topics aimed at reducing development risks and costs, while fostering industry growth in the floating offshore wind sector, including specific joint technology development initiatives. FLOWRA is a technical research association that works with overseas organizations to research and develop common basic technologies for floating offshore wind to reduce costs and risks.
FEM is a multidisciplinary research institute dedicated to resolving offshore wind challenges via advanced R&D, public-private partnerships, and knowledge transfer, strengthening France’s renewable energy leadership.
We are delighted to collaborate with France Energies Marines (FEM), an organization with extensive expertise and strong capabilities in technology development in the field of marine renewable energy, particularly in floating offshore wind,” said Masakatsu Terazaki, Chairperson of Board, FLOWRA. “FEM has long been at the forefront of advanced R&D and the transfer of its outcomes to industry, exemplifying the initiatives that FLOWRA strives to achieve and making a significant contribution to the progress of marine renewable energy.”
Ronan Stéphan, Chairman of FEM, added: “This initiative is part of a global context where public policies aim to increase the global share of renewable energy sources in electricity generation. As a spearhead of the offshore wind energy sector in Europe, France Energies Marines (FEM) is thrilled about the realization of this remarkable joint approach and is firmly committed to its development. Pooling our strengths, our visions, and the broad spectrum of skilled and motivated players we bring together in our respective areas of influence is a new asset for the practical deployment of industrial solutions that will benefit the entire offshore wind value chain. The signing of this memorandum of understanding between FLOWRA and FEM marks the official start of our respective commitments to intensify our exchanges, implement the best collaborative actions, and make the most of future opportunities for the benefit of our stakeholders.”
