Cardona Marine Group, Inc., a defense maritime startup, announced the unveiling of a New Class of Drones, “Stealth Maritime Attachment Drones” and their version the SP- 7V2, (Sea-Predator 7, version 2). This next-generation prototype in development is virtually undetectable both above and below the surface and can attach to the bottom of most any ship or submarine in stealth using the CMG Multi-Vessel Attachment System (MVAS).

These 13 ft long Attachment Drones can approach and attach in stealth and stay attached for days, weeks or longer. The SP-7V2 drone can generate its own power with a proprietary buoyancy wake generator. The drone can stay in communication with surface assets while attached to the vessel using another CMG innovation, The “B-pod” communication system.

In addition, the CMG SP-7V2 can also be equipped with:

  • One Way Attack (OWA) stealth mission systems: Track and monitor sub or carrier for miles before striking. Stealthily attach to bottom of carrier or sub and stay in position for long periods of time.
  • Anti-Submarine and ship warfare (ASW): The drone is in development for air dropping miles from target, from a MH-60R or MV-22B, remaining undetectable then surfacing next to an enemy carrier or submarine for lethal strikes. Payload potential is over 800 lbs of explosives plus 2 CMG riblet coated drone torpedoes.
  • Can deploy 4 aerial drones for additional surveillance or recon.
  • ROV Ship Mine, entire drone can be set as ROV mine.

The drone’s unique shape, riblet coating and custom Buoyancy Flume Drive propulsion system makes it virtually undetectable. The drone’s hull is built with ballistic composites developed over 15 years of research and development. Inspired by shark skin hydrodynamics, the riblet-textured armor combines Kevlar, carbon fiber, ceramic, and modified fiberglass to reduce drag, enhance stealth, and improve fuel efficiency.

“Our new underwater drone and attachment system will be a game changer! The SP-7V2, (Sea-Predator 7, version 2) will be able to attach itself in stealth using our new multi-vessel attachment system and can operate alone or as part of a swarm, staying submerging until the right moment to detonate or to surface, deploy its armaments or OWA, and then vanish again from detection,” said John Cardona, President of Cardona Marine Group. “Beyond strike capabilities, it is built to perform mission-critical tasks including anti-mine warfare, reconnaissance, special operations support, force multiplication, logistics, stealth operations, and underwater surveillance. These drones will also be available in a commercial version for underwater exploration, maintenance, search and rescue activities and even a recreational version.”

Cardona Marine Group will begin its next round of sea trials in the coming months, with plans to integrate advanced stealth and AI-enabled navigation technologies.
