C-Kore is the global leader for testing subsea umbilicals and cables, using automated test equipment in water depths up to 3,000 meters. In 2020, C-Kore started the design of a Subsea Optical Time Domain Reflectometer unit (SOTDR) to measure optical fibers subsea, launching their first prototype in 2022. As with their other patented products, the tool is fully automated, making a once complex operation of taking OTDR measurements a now simple process, not requiring any specialized personnel to accompany the units offshore.
Tim Overfield, Founder and Chairman of C-Kore, commented, “Receiving The King’s Award for Enterprise for the fourth time with C-Kore is an extraordinary honor. This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team and our commitment to pushing boundaries in the UK and globally. Innovation has always been at the heart of our company, and this award reinforces the impact our work is having across the industry today.”
The award highlights the great importance of innovation within UK’s businesses. C-Kore’s customers operate in one of the most severe physical environments on the planet, where both staff and equipment are exposed to harsh conditions. Anything that makes their job easier, quicker, more reliable, and safer is welcomed. C-Kore’s SOTDR has been widely adopted by customers worldwide to modernize their subsea testing operations, demonstrating strong market traction and proven value.
As an organization, C-Kore is extremely proud of its achievements and is looking forward to continuing to serve the global subsea industry in the years to come.
C-Kore will receive the award shortly and later in the year will celebrate with other winners at a reception being held at St. James’s Palace, London.
