Maritime Robotics announced its central and dynamic role in NATO's groundbreaking Task Force X Baltic. This pivotal initiative is rigorously testing uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) to redefine and enhance maritime operations, pushing the boundaries of defense technology.

During recent maneuvers in the Baltic Sea, Maritime Robotics’ advanced USVs were not only operational, but their real-time feeds were live-streamed directly to the NATO Summit in The Hague, Netherlands, powerfully showcasing Norway’s cutting-edge contributions to the future of global defense.

Under the demanding conditions of Task Force X Baltic, Maritime Robotics has deployed its expertise in remote control, seamless system integration, and consistent USV performance. These missions demonstrate how uncrewed systems are indispensable in forging a persistent and comprehensive situational picture—a vital component in safeguarding the security and safety of citizens across NATO member nations. By precisely detecting, tracking, and identifying all vessels traversing strategic Danish waters—from commercial cargo and the so-called “Russian shadow fleet” to military vessels moving in and out of the Baltic Sea—the live video and vessel tracks streamed by our USVs provide decision-makers with a critical overview of maritime activity.

This initiative, spearheaded by NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT), represents a move towards fully integrating autonomous systems into networked defense operations. It directly addresses current complex operational challenges while proactively meeting the evolving demands of future maritime security. Through robust collaboration with Baltic nations, NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), NATO Maritime Command, and the NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), this endeavor significantly fortifies the Alliance’s collective maritime security posture.

“We are immensely proud of the dedication and exceptional effort our team has poured into this mission, and to witness our seadrones at the very forefront of NATO’s innovation drive,” stated Vegard Evjen Hovsten, CEO at Maritime Robotics. “Our contribution to Task Force X, coupled with the incredible opportunity to have our operations featured live at the NATO Summit, serves as a powerful validation of our technology’s inherent value, unwavering reliability, and its truly unlimited possibilities. It unequivocally demonstrates how Norway’s world-leading expertise in maritime autonomy is actively shaping a safer, more effective, and more resilient future for the entire Alliance.”
