Phoenix mobilized personnel from Norfolk, VA to Naval Security Activity in Manama, Bahrain to conduct shaft seal repair operations on these forward deployed vessels. The operation led by Diving Supervisor Hermann Groombridge, involved the installation and removal of single valve protection shaft seal cofferdams that enabled interior Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) repairs. The exceptional operational pre-planning, construction of a custom fly-away diving system, and communications with leadership on each respective ship helped ensure quality repairs in a short time window.
These vessels conduct maritime operations forwarding U.S. interests that deter and counter disruptive countries, defeat violent extremism, and strengthen partner nations maritime capabilities in the Central Command area of responsibility. The Phoenix team’s expertise in underwater ship husbandry were critical to ensuring that the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Glen Harris and U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Robert Goldman continued their mission of ensuring our nation’s National Security objectives.
