A Squared Engineering is an offshore engineering consultancy. The company provide specialist engineering and technical services to the offshore energy, commercial marine and naval sectors.
The company started as virtual tenants at Blyth Workspace and now have a permanent project office after recognising the level of activity and investment now taking place across the Blyth estuary.
A Squared was founded by three engineers (Andrew Robson, Neil Baillie and Sotirios Koutsoukos – aka ‘Sooty’) who all share the belief that good engineering is above all else built on the foundations of professional integrity and good governance. The engineering team at A Squared has a wealth of experience both analytical and practical, with teams of offshore engineering specialists operating in Aberdeen and Newcastle.
The move to the prestigious Blyth office development is part of their plans for a business that has grown steadily from the small company it was in the beginning. They will capitalize on their new base at the estuary alongside the already established cluster of offshore and subsea businesses.
A Squared specialise in analytical engineering support and risk assessment of marine operations and subsea construction. They offer consulting services in structural design and analysis, subsea dynamic analysis, naval architecture and ship structures, stability, vessel conversion and upgrades.
Andrew Robson, Managing Director of A Squared Engineering said: “The continued growth of our business in the oil & gas and offshore renewables markets, combined with our desire to attract and retain talented engineers, has created the need to expand our premises. The Port of Blyth has a bright future ahead of it, with offshore operators keen to use the excellent facilities here and we are delighted to be a part of this exciting new chapter in the life of the port”.
Richard Wearmouth, Chair of Advance Northumberland said: “We are delighted A Squared has moved into our Blyth Workspace offices. It is also great news for the offshore sector and that companies now have the expertise of A Squared Engineering to draw on locally. This company’s expertise and specialism is a real asset to Northumberland’s economy”.
