Deep Ocean Engineering has received an award letter from the Historic Hawaii Foundation notifying them that the outstanding preservation efforts of the USS Arizona Digital Preservation Project and its contributors, including Deep Ocean Engineering, will be recognized with the Preservation Commendation Award at the Historic Hawaii Foundation’s 2017 Preservation Honor Awards Ceremony to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 19, 2017.

This project received the award for the combined use of digital technologies, including use of the digital Phantom® H-1750 unmanned surface vehicle platform, fitted with multi-beam sonar, to create a baseline dataset and computer model of the submerged USS Arizona for historic preservation and public outreach. The USS Arizona documentation project will serve as an example for similar digital documentation of other submerged historic sites in the future. Deep Ocean is honored to be included as a recipient of this prestigious and historic award.
