Nortek is hosting the 2014 Northern European User Conference, June 26-28, for oceanographers and ocean engineers. The organizer promises strong focus on networking, knowledge exchange and hands-on experience with equipment among colleagues and collaborators gathered at Dutch isle.
Nortek BV, NortekUK and Terra4 will host the 2014 Northern European User Conference in collaboration in late June. Organizers offer two days of user presentations, hands-on demonstrations, technical discussions, latest development news, and networking opportunities. Managing Director at Nortek B.V., Sicco Kamminga, is responsible for organizing the event.
‒ We have made an event that is suited to all disciplines of oceanography and ocean engineering. Whether from academic, government, or commercial sectors, we will cover relevant challenges and solutions, he says.
Showcasing the AD2CP
Nortek recently launched their new Signature55, which makes use of Nortek’s AD2CP technology and Nortek Piezo’s transducers to extend Nortek’s current profiling range capabilities to a thousand meters. The same platform is also used in the new Signature1000 and Signature500, which are especially suited for studies of turbulence, while fulfilling standard current profiling needs.
‒ We are anxious to give our guests an up-close experience with our technology. To see how it works and gathers data in real life makes a huge difference in understanding the possibilities, Kamminga says.
Live demonstration at NIOZ
In collaboration with the National Oceanographic Institution for the Netherlands, NIOZ, symposium participants will receive a guided tour of the institute’s Texel facilities as well as see live equipment demonstrations carried out by Nortek at the NIOZ harbor.
‒ With live demonstrations, users can share experiences with each other and consult with Nortek engineers on practical issues as they see the equipment in use, Kamminga added.
Informal evenings
The arena for the symposium will be the Dutch island of Texel, the largest of the Frisian Islands and the most western of the Wadden Sea archipelago. Some of the primary benefits gained by attendees of Nortek technical symposia worldwide are the networking and collaboration opportunities established with colleagues in the industry. Therefore, in addition to a riveting technical program, several engaging social events are planned. These include a beachside barbecue in the evening and the viewing of the world’s largest catamaran race, the Round Texel Race, averaging 600 participants annually, at the conclusion of the event.
‒ We can’t wait to welcome our guests to informative days and pleasant evenings at the summertime island of Texel, Kamminga ends.
