Christian Michelsen Research AS (CMR) announces the establishment of Offshore Sensing AS. The company Offshore Sensing AS is registered in Norway and based in Bergen where CMR is the majority owner. The company will focus on development, production and sales of the Sailbuoy product both nationally and internationally.
The Sailbuoy product is a wind powered unmanned autonomous vehicle designed for long-term offshore observations. It has been thoroughly tested from light to severe ocean conditions and is a unique product on the world market.
“We are very excited with the establishment of this new company that will continue the production and sales of the Sailbuoy. The technology development was conducted by CMR for several of years and we are fascinated by the performance and durability the Sailbuoy vessel has shown. We believe that the Sailbuoy has a large potential for offshore observations, greatly reducing the cost of data acquisition and enabling a more persistent observation of the oceans.” says the Chairman and CMR representative Christoffer Giertsen.
Offshore Sensing will be led by David Peddie, who invented and led the development of the Sailbuoy product.
