Open Ocean Robotics has announced it is one of the eight Vancouver Island-based organizations selected to receive funding from Canada’s federal government through the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada (PacifiCan). As part of a $3.5 million investment to advance innovation and attract visitors to the region, Open Ocean Robotics will receive $800,000 from PacifiCan’s Business Scale-up and Productivity program.

This funding will help Open Ocean Robotics scale up production of its solar-powered, autonomous uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs), which provide real-time ocean data and help researchers monitor marine environments more safely and affordably. As a leader in ocean technology, Open Ocean Robotics is contributing to the growing marine solutions hub on Vancouver Island and supports sustainable environmental stewardship.
