Shaping the Future of Energy: Statoil’s Digitization Road Map 2020

We are experiencing the most fast-paced time in history. The future of oil and gas development will be defined by industry’s ability to change, compete, and excel in an environment where rapidly changing structures, information overload and novel solutions have become the new normal. It is not just about innovative technologies, but also about radically changing the way we work.

The digital shift creates challenges but it also creates opportunities. The production of the future will increasingly be subsea, with lighter installations, unmanned, robotized, remotely operated and standard-izated equipment. It will be safer, more profitable, and have lower emissions.

Statoil’s digital roadmap includes establishing a Digital center of Excellence with six specific programs focusing on:

  • Digital safety, security and sustainability
  • Subsurface analytics
  • Next generation well delivery
  • Field of the future
  • Data-driven operations
  • Process digitalization and insight
