SUT Launches Call for Papers for 50th Anniversary Event

The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) has launched a call for abstracts for a new technical conference to be held next year to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The Future of Underwater Technology will be held on November 15-17th 2016 at ExCel in London and will showcase global underwater engineering and ocean science technologies, products, and practices.

The event will place a spotlight on the next generation of subsea engineering and marine science innovations that will support global industries in the quest to go deeper and operate in increasingly challenging underwater environments.

The event will look at traditional underwater science, such as diving, through to the latest deep sea exploration with undersea gliders like ALSEAMAR’s Sea Explorer.

The conference topics will include: diving, environmental forces’ marine renewables, ocean resources, ocean and marine science, offshore site investigation, subsea engineering and operations, defence, and the business aspects surround marine and underwater working.

Bob Allwood, CEO of SUT said: “This is a flagship event for SUT as we celebrate our 50th anniversary and we anticipate a lot of interest from international organisations. The landscape in which we operate has changed dramatically over the last half a century thanks to people with the vision to pioneer new techniques. SUT has promoted and helped progress the knowledge and understanding that has shaped innovations around everything from diving to robotics. This conference will put forward the potential game-changers that will propel the next leap in our understanding of the underwater world.”

The call for papers is now open at www.sut.org/event/sut-2016, providing a platform for companies and individuals to submit abstracts in a range of categories. The deadline for submissions is 9th May 2016.

The event anticipates more than 200 first class sessions and the opportunity to connect with underwater engineering and science professionals from around the world. It will also host an exhibition area, providing opportunities for networking and technical knowledge exchange. The programme will include plenary sessions, technical presentations and student displays.
