The Aqua charger, capable of delivering up to 24 kW of power via the international CCS standard, is now operational at Marina Park. Designed specifically for the harsh marine environment, the unit ensures safe and reliable recharging for a wide range of electric vessels, from leisure craft to commercial operators. By supporting the transition to electric boating, the installation helps eliminate range anxiety and aligns with California’s clean energy mandates, contributing to a significant reduction in carbon emissions from recreational marine activity.
Newport Harbor is one of the largest recreational harbors in the United States and is considered to be the jewel of Newport Beach. Last year, Newport Beach Harbor Department became the first public agency in the US to add a boat powered entirely by electricity to its fleet of vehicles with a Vita workboat. The Vita boat qualified for a Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) voucher, so about half of what the city spent on it was refunded by the state.
“This installation represents a game-changer for Southern California’s boating community,” said Scott Canning, US VP Business Development for Aqua superPower. “Newport Beach is a gateway to pristine coastal waters, and by bringing our fast-charging infrastructure here, we’re not just powering electric boats—we’re fueling a sustainable future for marine electrification. Our brand-agnostic technology supports every major electric boat manufacturer, making the switch to e-boating seamless and accessible for all.”
Aqua superPower handles installation, maintenance, and remote monitoring through its cloud-based Neptune platform. Boaters can easily locate the charger, check real-time availability, and pay via the intuitive Aqua superPower app, ensuring a hassle-free experience. This deployment builds on the company’s expanding US network, which already includes marine fast charge stations at Lake Tahoe, San Francisco Bay, Lake George, and beyond, creating vital charging corridors for cross-waterway travel.
Marina Park, a hub for luxury yachting and eco-conscious enthusiasts, joins Aqua superPower as a flagship partner committed to sustainability. “We’re thrilled to lead the charge—literally—in making Newport Beach a destination for green boating,” said Harbor Master Paul Blank. “This partnership with Aqua superPower enhances our facilities while inviting more harbors and marinas to adopt electric workboats and encourage electric recreational boating, reinforcing their environmental stewardship.”
Aqua superPower’s global network now spans over 60 installations across Europe, North America, and beyond, with plans for further expansions in high-traffic coastal areas like San Diego and Santa Barbara.
