Mr. Fujiwara brings more than 20 years of experience spanning the US Navy, defense technology, and commercial growth, including 16 years serving in the United States Navy’s Submarine Force.
His appointment follows a period of strong momentum in the US for Greenroom Robotics, most notably the inclusion of the company’s software onboard HII’s successful US Navy Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV) submission. HII, America’s largest military shipbuilder, recently saw its MUSV pass rigorous US Navy testing as part of the MUSV program, and has been awarded one of three contracts for 10 USVs.
Greenroom Robotics General Manager—USA, Alex Bertram, said Mr. Fujiwara will play a key role in expanding strategic partnerships and the adoption of Greenroom Robotics modular, open maritime autonomy software across the US market.
“Steve is the first US veteran to join the Greenroom Robotics team, and he brings the perspective we need to connect customer requirements with practical autonomy that can be deployed fast,” Mr. Bertram said.
“He joins us from Advanced Navigation, Australia’s first defense-tech unicorn, so he already knows what it takes to grow an Aussie business here in the US.”
Mr. Fujiwara said Greenroom Robotics technology and market position presented a significant opportunity.
“What excites me about Greenroom is the maturity of the technology and the opportunity to apply it to real-world maritime challenges at scale,” Mr. Fujiwara said.
“I’ve operated in demanding naval environments, and that experience has shaped how I approach technology by connecting genuine operational needs with commercially viable capability.”
“Greenroom has proven software-defined autonomy solutions across Australia and the United States, and I’m looking forward to building new partnerships and expanding its presence stateside.”
Mr. Fujiwara served in the US Navy Submarine Force, including as an Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Mission Control Officer, before moving into senior roles in the US defense technology sector.
In 2026, he received the Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Award from the Navy League of the United States. He was also named Outstanding Achiever of the Year by U.S. Forces in Business.
