Allseas has completed the offshore pipelay commitments for the ambitious Southeast Gateway pipeline project in southeast Mexico. Installation of the 700-kilometer, 36-inch natural gas pipeline for their client, TC Energy, is a major success for Allseas, showcasing collaboration, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional project management.

Dynamic Project Seamlessly Executed

Leveraging state-of-the-art pipelay vessels and dedicated onshore and offshore teams, Allseas delivered the pipeline in 11 months. That included the complex nearshore scope and pre-commissioning of the entire system.

Solitaire laid most of the pipeline, with Lorelay and Tog Mor providing first-class support. Pioneering Spirit installed the outstanding nearshore section at Coatzacoalcos without a stinger. Instead, the hanging stinger transition frame served as a ‘mini’ stinger, a solution tailored to the shallow water depth.

Project Manager Johan Paauwe says, “Thanks to the great collaboration between the Allseas and TC Energy teams, we successfully navigated this dynamic project. The trust placed in us by our client fueled our drive to deliver this ambitious pipeline and once again demonstrate Allseas’ leadership in delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure projects efficiently, on time, and on budget.”

“The Southeast Gateway Pipeline Project, with much credit due to the performance of the collective Allseas/TC Energy team, is a classic example of how large-scale offshore pipelay ventures are delivered safely, environmentally compliant, and on plan,” said Mike Bagale, TC Energy’s Vice President of Mexico Projects.

Driving Efficiency and Innovation

Allseas collaboration with TC Energy wasn’t just about execution—it was about raising the bar. TC Energy worked with Allseas to advance the validation of their cutting-edge Automated Ultrasonic Testing system, Dolphin, giving them a platform to showcase this industry-leading inspection technology. Allsea obliged, inspecting more than 57,000 welds!

Dolphin’s fast, reliable, and efficient inspection cycles set a new long-overdue standard for high-production pipeline construction and girth weld inspection. Successful deployment on Southeast Gateway underscores Allseas’ commitment to innovation, safety, and efficiency through continuous improvement of vessels and equipment.

Thanks to Dolphin and our relentless focus on operational excellence, Allseas delivered the pipeline ahead of schedule, helping TC Energy stay on track to achieve its commercial in-service date by mid-2025.

Powering Mexico’s Future

This pipeline, a strategic collaboration between TC Energy and Mexico’s state utility CFE, will deliver reliable and affordable energy to Mexico’s growing southeast region. It builds on Allseas’ legacy of excellence in Mexico following the successful installation of the Sur de Texas-Tuxpan pipeline in 2017.
