The MSPA reflects the long-standing energy partnership between PETRONAS and Japan, providing a cooperative, flexible framework to safeguard Japan’s energy security while respecting Malaysia’s domestic supply needs.

The framework reinforces PETRONAS’ role as a reliable and trusted LNG supplier to Japan and underscores the shared commitment to ensure reliable energy supplies amid an evolving global energy landscape.

The MSPA further strengthens the close relationship between PETRONAS and Japan, a key LNG market for PETRONAS for more than four decades.

JOGMEC is a Japanese government agency operating under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), with responsibilities that include implementing Japan’s energy and natural resources policies. Through its collaboration with industry partners, JOGMEC plays a pivotal role in strengthening Japan’s energy security and ensuring stable access to critical energy resources.

PETRONAS Executive Vice President and CEO of Gas & Maritime Business, Datuk Adif Zulkifli, said: “This agreement reflects the strength of the trust we have built with JOGMEC over many years. By establishing a more agile framework for future LNG supply arrangements, we are better positioned to respond to evolving energy needs and contribute to greater supply resilience. We look forward to deepening this partnership and creating enduring value for both parties.”

The MSPA reflects PETRONAS’ ongoing commitment to delivering reliable energy solutions and fostering strategic partnerships that contribute to a secure, sustainable, and resilient energy future.
