Health and Safety Consultants HSEQ-360 Limited have been selected on a long-term contract to provide Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance services to Kincardine Offshore Windfarm. The site is the largest floating offshore windfarm in the world.

The development is considered a commercial demonstrator site, which uses floating semi-submersible technology to deploy Vestas wind turbine generators. Power export is designed at 33kV via two export cables to the Redmoss Substation in Altens Industrial Estate, Aberdeen. Total permitted generating capacity is 50 MW. The water depth at the location of the turbines is beyond the technical scope of existing fixed foundation technologies. The support for the wind turbines comprises a floating semi-submersible structure.

The contract award comes towards the end of a successful 2021 for HSEQ-360, currently providing Client Representation and HSEQ Support across Europe, and having contributed to several successful projects, including supporting contractors at Thornton Banks, Walney, Hornsea and Galloper. The award at Kincardine follows other long-term deals having been secured for HSEQ-360 with Energy Services Group (ESG), a German headquartered service provider in Wind, Solar and Hydrogen, and returning as the HSEQ partner for Opergy as part of the ‘Fit for Offshore Renewables’ (F4OR) initiative, a unique program to develop the UK offshore renewable supply chain facilitated by the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.

“We are delighted to provide HSEQ Management to the Operations and Maintenance phase at Kincardine. Having assisted the Operations Team in developing a management system to support O&M earlier this year, we are excited to support the project further by providing a range of onshore and offshore services across Health, Safety, the Environment and Quality.” HSEQ-360 Director, Steve Cook.

Ricardo Valverde, Head of O&M for the site, said “Health and Safety in our operations is the ultimate priority, and having access to Chartered level professionals that understand operations is vital. Having worked closely with HSEQ-360 over several months, we are pleased to have agreed longer term support to assist in our objective of managing a safe and successful project”.

HSEQ-360 Operations Director Chad Brown added “As we enter our third year, this marks another significant step in the development of HSEQ-360. This aligns with our strategy of providing an expanding package of value-adding services in offshore wind and renewables generally, to owners, operators and contractors that genuinely place HSEQ at the core of their work. We look forward to continuing to work closely with all involved at Kincardine”.

In 2016 Cobra Group became the main investor in Kincardine Offshore Windfarm Ltd (KOWL). Cobra Wind, a subsidiary of Cobra Group, has been responsible for the delivery of the project, including engineering, construction, installation, and commissioning.
