Luke Hunter Balchunas has been appointed as General Manager of Ocean Systems, a division of Randolph and Baldwin, Inc. Luke graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 2001 with a BS degree in Maritime Operations and Technologies. For 10 years he served as third to chief mate on state-of-the-art unlimited tonnage vessels. He has earned his Chief Mates license for unlimited tonnage vessels and his Captains license for 1600 ton vessels. He is, also, Master Scuba Diver Trainer and a private pilot.
Luke joined Randolph and Baldwin, Inc. as a Quality Manager. He was instrumental in securing the Woods Hole contracts and supported the engineering and design for the Buoys and BARF assemblies for the Ocean Observatories Initiative. Concerning this new division, Luke said, “Ocean Systems has demonstrated the ability to produce a volume of seaworthy assemblies within the requested timeframe.
