India’s naval, port security, and offshore sectors are expanding their underwater inspection and clearance capability, and much of that work still relies on divers for tasks that can now be carried out remotely. Atlantas Marine has spent 25 years operating ROV systems for exactly that kind of work, and designs and builds its own equipment in Yeovil to close the gaps its crews keep meeting in the field. The appointment of Spry Technocon puts those products and the operational knowledge behind them within reach of Indian operators without the delay of overseas procurement.
Spry Technocon Private Limited is a leading Indian provider of marine, offshore, and underwater technology solutions. Under the agreement, it will represent the Atlantas Marine product range in India and provide first-line support to customers in the region.
Tornado, the company’s subsea initiation system, enables the safe, remote initiation of electrical detonators and disruptors from an ROV, eliminating the need for a diver to manually fit and connect charges. It offers dual high-voltage ports and auxiliary switching and has completed more than 120 disruptor firings in trial conditions. For explosive ordnance disposal and underwater clearance teams, it removes the person from the water at the point of greatest risk.
Typhoon, the company’s ROV lock latch, addresses the other end of the same problem. Launch and recovery are where much of the risk and lost time on an ROV job sit, and Typhoon’s tether-guided design keeps the line under control through every deployment, eliminating the snags and swing that cost hours on deck. Rated to a 500 kg working load limit and load-tested to twice that figure, it is supplied with UKCA- and CE-approved certification and IMCA and Lloyd’s Register approval.
The agreement also covers the company’s inspection payloads. Storm IP is a compact subsea camera that streams 1080p video at 60 fps with low latency and integrated lighting, rated to 300 meters. Cyclone CP is a cathodic protection measurement system that returns real-time contact and proximity voltage readings through a titanium probe, with live data overlay and a 1,000-meter depth rating. Both were developed and manufactured by Atlantas Marine. Further Atlantas Marine products will be added to the Indian offering as they come to market.
