The event will also be a chance to meet investors and analysts on Thursday, April 27.
Growing demand for renewable power, advances in turbine generation capacity, grid hardening, and asset efficiency are key industry drivers and cables are the main enablers to harness the true potential of wind power. To meet European targets of more than 130 GW of offshore wind energy to be generated by 2030, Prysmian Group is investing heavily in the development of innovative, sustainable and cost-effective cable solutions for wind applications to support the energy transition to smarter and greener power grids.
The WindEurope Annual Event 2023 is the key European wind energy event and will be the occasion for Prysmian Group to display its state-of-the-art range of products and services for the whole wind power industry, including AC and DC power transmission submarine cable systems and lead-free turbine torsion cables.
At the WindEurope Annual Event 2023, Prysmian Group will present its new 525 kV HVDC submarine cable technology. This breakthrough innovation will enable a massive increase in the transmission capacity of bi-pole systems of up to 2 GW, which is almost twice the value achieved with the 320 kV DC systems currently in service and will be implemented for the first time in the recently awarded IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1 projects. These two grid connections will link two future offshore wind farms located in the Dutch North Sea to the southwestern part of The Netherlands.
World-class technical innovations on display will include also advanced cable technologies for turbine and grid connection applications to support sustainable electrification projects and the energy transition, both onshore and offshore, including: Windflex, the first totally lead-free ultra-flexible loop cables up to 66 kV, and Feltoflex, ready-to-plug cable solutions up to 155 kV.
On display will also be PRY-CAM breakthrough asset monitoring technology, designed to enable electrical systems management and preserve and protect high-value electrical assets thanks to in-depth, accurate, real-time data acquisition, storage and processing.
Wind Europe will be an opportunity to prove the Group’s over 20 years of experience in the offshore wind market, becoming the undisputed “EPCI contractor” for Transmission System Operators and offshore wind farm developers. Indeed, Prysmian can offer complete cable system solutions and services that apply innovative approaches, utilising extensive engineering resources, manufacturing facilities and a wide range of installation vessels and burial equipment. The Group is investing in a new cable-laying vessel: the sister ship to the state-of-the-art Leonardo da Vinci, scheduled to start commercial operations in early 2025.
