Amprion Deploys north.io Ocean Data Platform to Streamline Offshore Surveys

Since the beginning of 2026, transmission system operator Amprion has been using the technologies of Kiel-based Ocean Big Data specialist north.io. The aim is to digitalize and optimize the management of large and complex volumes of ocean data generated by offshore surveys, a key building block for the efficient implementation of Amprion's ambitious offshore projects.

Offshore surveys provide the essential data and planning foundation for the implementation of Amprion’s offshore projects. These surveys generate large volumes of heterogeneous marine data that must be reliably collected, stored, processed, made available, and analyzed. As the number and scale of these projects continue to grow, so do the requirements for efficient, secure, and seamless management of the ocean data collected. This is precisely where the collaboration with north.io comes into play.

A Central Platform for All Offshore Survey Data

To centralize data management, Amprion is deploying north.io‘s Ocean Data Platform. The platform provides centralized access to all offshore survey data, ensures secure data storage, and enables seamless, structured workflows with large and complex datasets.

At the same time, it significantly simplifies data exchange between Amprion and its service providers, creating a shared and reliable data foundation for all stakeholders. Instead of having to consolidate information from different systems and formats, project participants can access data directly in a centralized and structured environment.

The Ocean Data Platform thus provides the technological foundation for more efficient data processes throughout the entire lifecycle of offshore projects.

Advisory and Automation

Beyond the deployment of the platform, north.io also provides Amprion with advisory expertise, for example in the efficient use of complex data formats, process optimization, and the potential development of an Ocean Data Strategy 2030.

As part of their long-term collaboration, both partners are also jointly evaluating opportunities for extensive automation in quality control processes. This lays the foundation for faster approval processes and the standardization of manual workflows.

By introducing the platform and gradually automating processes across its offshore operations, Amprion is making a long-term investment in the digitalization of its workflows and the efficient implementation of its extensive projects.

The partnership thus contributes to making the expansion of offshore infrastructure more predictable and cost-effective through scalable, future-ready data processes.

Amprion is relying on north.io‘s Ocean Data Platform to achieve its offshore expansion targets.
