MFE Offshore has announced a new partnership with Hydromea, becoming an official distributor of the company's underwater robotics solutions for offshore and maritime operations. Through the partnership, MFE Offshore will offer Hydromea's innovative underwater inspection technologies to customers across offshore oil and gas, offshore wind, marine infrastructure, climate science, and other subsea industries.

“As offshore inspections become more demanding, operators need access to technologies that can safely and efficiently gather data in environments that are often hard to reach,” said Wendy Post, General Manager of MFE Offshore. “Many underwater inspections involve complex structures, confined spaces, and deployment challenges. Hydromea has developed a unique approach to addressing those challenges, and we’re excited to bring that capability to our customers.”

Offshore inspections traditionally require divers, large support vessels, or complex tether management systems. Hydromea’s flagship ROV, the EXRAY, provides an alternative to many of these methods, helping operators reduce reliance on divers, simplify deployment, and collect high-quality, repeatable inspection data more efficiently.

What sets the EXRAY apart is its ability to serve as a communications relay for a tetherless inspection drone. Using Hydromea’s proprietary underwater wireless technology, operators can maintain real-time control and receive live HD video from the drone without relying on a physical tether. The approach makes it easier to inspect confined spaces and complex submerged structures where tethered systems can face operational limitations.

“Hydromea developed EXRAY robot to take underwater inspections to a new professional level in more complex environments, while making piloting easier,” said Johan Mlouka, Sales Director at Hydromea. “MFE Offshore understands the operational realities that inspection teams face every day. Their experience helps customers evaluate, deploy, and support inspection technologies in the right way, which makes MFE an ideal partner as we bring professional class-ready EXRAY robot to more operators across the energy industry.”

The partnership further expands MFE Offshore’s growing portfolio of subsea and offshore technologies, including subsea positioning systems, ROVs, sonar systems, subsea navigation tools, and other specialized subsea inspection technologies.

To celebrate the new partnership, MFE Offshore will host a Demo Day on June 18 at its offshore facility. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the EXRAY in operation, meet with technical specialists, and discuss potential applications for their own inspection programs. Admission is free, but space is limited, and registration is encouraged.
