The Great Bear Merge 3D project combines multiple legacy seismic surveys into a seamless regional dataset covering approximately 1,366 square miles across Alaska’s North Slope. Reprocessed using modern imaging technologies, including full-waveform inversion (FWI), the project delivers improved data quality and continuity across historical survey boundaries, providing customers with a consistent regional framework for evaluating exploration and development opportunities.
The Alaska Regional 2D-Cubed project complements the 3D offering by integrating approximately 667,640 square kilometers of seismic data from across the North Slope, Beaufort Sea, and Chukchi Sea into a single, regionally consistent interpretation volume. By combining legacy 2D and 3D seismic data through a unified processing and imaging workflow, the project creates a continuous subsurface framework that enables basin-scale screening of remaining onshore recoverable reserves and additional opportunities in the Beaufort and, particularly, Chukchi Seas, connecting the multiple oil discoveries offshore to the commercially successful Permian-Cretaceous stacked plays onshore.
Together, these projects provide customers with access to a more complete regional understanding of Alaska’s evolving exploration landscape, helping to support acreage evaluation, prospect identification, and strategic decision-making.
David Hajovsky, EVP of Multi-Client, said: “As industry interest grows across Alaska’s onshore and offshore basins, customers are increasingly seeking a regional perspective that extends beyond individual surveys. These new products connect decades of seismic data into unified regional frameworks, helping customers better understand basin-scale geology and identify opportunities across the region’s evolving exploration landscape.”
The new products further strengthen TGS’ position as a leading provider of subsurface intelligence in Alaska, where the company maintains one of the industry’s most extensive seismic data portfolios.
