Transocean Deepwater Mykonos Targets Tupinambá Pre-Salt After Hydrocarbon Find

bp has informed the Brazilian National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) that it has identified the presence of hydrocarbons in an exploration well in the deep-water Tupinambá block in the Santos Basin.

Well 1-BP-14-SPS is located 275 kilometers from the Brazilian coast, in a water depth of 2,343 meters.

Evaluation of the Tupinambá post-salt section is ongoing, while drilling continues toward the pre-salt section.

Following completion of Tupinambá operations, the Transocean Deepwater Mykonos drillship is expected to move to bp’s Bumerangue block, also offshore Brazil, to start its appraisal program.

bp operates the Tupinambá block with a 50% working interest, in partnership with Shell (50%, subject to regulatory approval). Pré-Sal Petróleo S/A manages the Production Sharing Contract for the block, which was awarded in December 2023 in the ANP’s second Permanent Offer under the production-sharing regime.
