Deploying traditional fenders can tie up resources and eat into valuable time, leading to higher operational overheads for maritime operations. With Jumbo Fender – Rapid Deploy, configuration time is reduced to less than a single day without any additional assembly. This new, innovative fendering solution is delivered to the site fully netted and pre-configured, meaning set-up is as simple as connecting a standard compressor to inflate – no need for specialist tools.
Ian Taylor, Global Head of Operations (Products) at James Fisher Fendercare, said: “When time is critical, Jumbo Fender – Rapid Deploy keeps operations moving. It arrives pre-configured for rapid set-up and can be deployed in hours instead of days, reducing disruption across LNG operations, ship-to-ship transfers, floating terminals, and emergency deployments, while maintaining the high safety standards our customers expect.”
The optimized 4.5 x 9.0 design of Jumbo Fender—Rapid Deploy saves space and reduces transport requirements. It is easier to handle compared to other solutions and can be safely and conveniently repositioned should the need call for it, enhancing safety and control for contractors at every operational stage.
Due to its smaller shipping footprint compared to previous solutions, Jumbo Fender – Rapid Deploy also has the potential to lower logistics costs and cut project emissions by up to 50%, since it requires fewer containers when being transported, depending on the shipping method. In addition, all fenders are manufactured using reworked, second-life tires which otherwise go unused to further reduce CO2 emissions and enhance ESG credentials for ports and fleets, while still meeting international standards for safety and quality.
Ildo Shin, Product Manager at James Fisher Fendercare, said: “Our new Jumbo Fender—Rapid Deploy was developed with efficiency in mind and to remove logistical barriers for maritime operations. Its reduced size and rapid deployment offer improved flexibility for customers, and by incorporating second-life tires, we’re delivering a more sustainable solution without compromising on safety or performance.”
All units are pre-tested before dispatch and fully compliant with ISO 17357-1:2014, meaning there are no surprises when it comes to net alignment and structural integrity post-delivery. This gives added peace of mind when it comes to internal logistics planning and redeployment across global assets, enabling shared ownership and flexible collaboration between ports internationally.
Backed by James Fisher’s maritime track record and specialist engineering, this new solution delivers dependable performance and operational agility, protecting assets and unlocking new efficiencies for maritime operators.
