Sea Giraffe AMB D can detect, track, and classify aircraft, drones, missiles, and crewed or uncrewed surface vessels, with a range of up to 250 km for air targets and 50 km for surface targets. It provides early warning and accurate target information to support decision-making in distributed, multi-domain operations, where reliable sensors are the foundation of operational advantage.

Designed for demanding maritime environments, the radar combines advanced Electronic Counter-Countermeasures (ECCM) capabilities against jamming attempts, with a modular architecture that enables integration with other naval systems. Its software-defined architecture also enables continuous upgrades as operational requirements evolve.

“Sea Giraffe AMB D takes a proven naval radar capability to the next level, combining increased performance with a low footprint and an architecture built for continuous development,” said Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s business area Surveillance. “It is designed to meet the demands of today’s naval forces while giving customers the flexibility to evolve with future threats.”

Building on more than 70 years of radar innovation and over two decades of ongoing operational success with Sea Giraffe AMB radars, the new Sea Giraffe AMB D leverages Active Electronically Scanned Array radar hardware with a new software architecture and modern processing capabilities to provide enhanced air surveillance performance.
