RH Marine’s System Integration for Combat Support Ship Den Helder

RH Marine will supply and install all energy distribution, automation and bridge systems for the new Combat Support Ship (CSS) Den Helder. The maritime system integrator will use its expertise over the next four years to provide the new support ship with high-quality systems which ensure swift operation and safety for ship and crew.

Full electrical and automation package

The system integrator delivers the entire electrical distribution and automation package: from switchboards and cable routing to the integrated bridge, CCTV and integrated platform management system. Due to the growing impact of digitalization and automation, cyber security has become an integral part in the delivery of the vessel. Over the next four years, more than 40 employees will work on the CSS project. RH Marine has already started engineering and expects to supply and install the first equipment in 2022.

Joint industry effort

More than hundred companies from the Dutch naval construction sector are involved in the construction of the vessel. Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) will build the ship as the Ministry of Defense’s main contractor. Damen and RH Marine have been working together for decades to deliver Dutch shipbuilding ingenuity to the Royal Netherlands Navy and other navies abroad.

State-of-the-art Combat Support Ship

The new CSS Den Helder will be 180 meters long, will have a 75-person crew and can take an additional 75 people on board. There is room for several helicopters and around 20 containers. The vessel is built in Romania, after which its final components will be installed in Den Helder. Completion is planned for 2024 and the vessel is scheduled to be operational by 2025.
