As part of the collaboration, COVE and Communitech will co-host a multi-day event during Waterloo Tech Week (September 14–18, 2026), bringing together Canada’s NATO DIANA innovators, investors, and industry leaders for networking and discussions focused on advancing adoption and growth.

By connecting Waterloo Region’s strengths in advanced technology, AI, and quantum computing with Atlantic Canada’s operational testing infrastructure and access to industry and defense end users, this collaboration will create an integrated path to market for Canadian innovators.

This collaboration aims to address a key challenge faced by Canadian technology companies. “Canada has exceptional technology companies, but many face challenges in accessing key customers, partners, and capital,” said Melanie Nadeau, CEO of COVE. “By connecting the strengths of Atlantic Canada and Waterloo Region, we can create a stronger national network to help Canadian innovators compete and grow.”

“The defense sector is an increasingly important market for Canadian technology companies, and Waterloo Region has a meaningful role to play. Our strengths in AI, quantum and advanced manufacturing can help strengthen both Canada’s economy and our national security,” said Sheldon McCormick, CEO of Communitech.

Waterloo Tech Week runs from September 14–18, 2026. Visit https://waterlootechweek.ca/ to explore the full schedule and learn how to participate.
